January

If of thine earthly goods
thou art bereft,
And on thy shelf
two loaves alone are left,
Sell one and
with the dole,
Buy hyacinths
to feed thy soul.

This little Persian poem is helpful when I need to rationalize a purchase. : )

Our Neighbors

Our community has been broken-hearted because of the death last weekend in Iraq of Capt. Brian Freeman, 31, son of our next-door neighbors, Kathy and Al. Services for him are this week in CA, but our neighborhood youth have honored the family by posting 200 flags on our street up to their home.

No Snow

We're still waiting for the Big Snow. We have more in the fields than you see here, but not much.

In late December we had a great time in SanDiego and OC, visiting everyone. Paul and his brother Rob surfed and Rog got in some body surfing.

Walk to the Post Office

Our cold, sunny days have allowed for brisk walks and close-ups of puddles on the side of the road.

Happy New Year. I haven't been able to post for awhile, but I love and miss everyone. Love, Mom

Winter Wonderland

I like the beautiful snow. I wish you could see Gary and Janet's place under a blanket of snow. Every window you look out is a winter scene. However, cold weather does not make for easy driving.

Some time ask me about doing a 180 across three lanes of freeway traffic on a recent night in SLC. Actually, I'm not a true witness to this event since I closed my eyes and covered my face until we were safe. We're extremely thankful.
