Chiasmus

Yesterday we heard law professor and biblical scholar John Welch at Education Week. He told how, while serving his mission in Regensburg, Germany, in August 1967, he awoke early one morning and was lead to discover chiasmus in The Book of Mormon. Wow. (This formal Hebrew literary form is present in the Old and New Testaments, and strongly suggests the Semitic background of Book of Mormon authors).

Education Week

The summer I was 13 mother drove three of us from our home in Southern California to BYU for Leadership Week. That year they had special youth classes and activities. We stayed at Heritage Halls. This was the precursor to Education Week and EFY. I thought it was wonderful then, and I still do. We hope to get there this week for at least one day.

Family Photos

Aside from the satisfaction of meeting and being with family at the Shainwald gathering in Atherton, CA, this month, I brought home treasures. We went to Stephanie's and Rick's house near Golden Gate Park and she shared a multitude of things.

Gloria

Fun to be in Texas for Gloria's birthday and her ice-cream-sandwich cake. A no-bake summer "cake" is a good idea. In this case, Rachel did put a layer of cake and a layer of ice cream in the center.

I remember putting two blocks of ice cream together, frosting them with whipped cream and putting on candles. It was just right served with berries for summer.

Blogless

No blog entries. Whatever energy I'm getting back has to go to other things. Love you all.
