Conference

We loved getting to the first session of conference. I felt fortunate to be there in person.





On Sunday I went to the afternoon session with my neighbor, Evelyn. We ended up in the wonderful old Tabernacle, newly restored, sitting on the same wooden benches only now with plenty of legroom. I have to say that it surprised me how small and almost quaint it seemed. It's hard to believe that the great historic choir had fit in so small a choir loft and that the building had met the church's needs.

Signs of spring

The birds are back: Canadian geese nesting; great herons paired off and feeding in the fields; pelicans and ducks on the marsh; a robin singing in our yard today.

Mac Babies

After the Stanley babies arrived, the four Mac babies came. Karilee's, Tiffany's, Salli's, and last week, Christina's. This week Roger's sister Joani came for a visit from CA so she's done a lot of baby tending. Baby Grayson, the micro-premie, is up to 7#'s and is home.

Enrichment

"Celebrating a Mother Heart" was the theme for our RS birthday last night because the Handbook specifies the teaching of "parenting" skills as a main purpose of HFPE. After dinner, an entertaining professor from USU's Family and Human Development spoke briefly, and then we went to breakout groups so sisters could share their own parenting concerns. Nice night. Decorations were pinks and reds, roses, small heart boxes of chocolates for favors.

Light snow this morning. We do need the moisture, but our persistent weather calls to mind Narnia's endless winter. It IS melting. Happy first day of spring.

March 17

Happy Day to you all!


Took GG home to SG and took MaryLu to lunch for her March 15 birthday. I have RS Enrichment this Wednesday. A month from now I have my Conference at the University and Rog has Stk. Conference. We're looking forward to the snow melting so we can work outside. Family History discoveries make me happy. I'm reading Marjorie Morningstar, thanks to Erin's post. Meanwhile, we're gradually getting "papers" in. Love, Mom

At one point Ed Shainwald and wife Rosa moved across the border to Oregon, eventually living mostly in the Portland area.
